Two people are dead and at least 80 injured in a 140-vehicle pileup that forced the closure of Interstate 10 in Southeast Texas, Reuters reported.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the collision happened around 8 a.m. Thursday on I-10 near Beaumont, about 80 miles east of Houston.
Deputy Rod Carroll, of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, told Fox News that more than 80 people have been transported to area hospitals.
Authorities said the fog in the area is extremely dense.
I-10 has been shut down in both directions, while emergency workers search for more injured people trapped in vehicles.
